Mexico’s quest for a first CONCACAF Gold Cup title since 2019 will continue against Costa Rica in the 2023 tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
El Tri are the betting favorites to win the title with a strong squad that has been revived under interim manager Jaime Lozano, despite seeing its reserve lineup lose its final group stage match to Qatar.
Costa Rica needed a wild 6-4 victory against Martinique in its final group match to advance to the knockout rounds after a loss to Panama and a draw against El Salvador. Los Ticos will be hoping to spring the upset to reach their first Gold Cup semifinal since 2017.
The winner of the Mexico vs. Costa Rica match will face the winner of Sunday’s Guatemala vs. Jamaica quarterfinal and that semifinal will be staged in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Mexico manager Jaime Lozano has a full squad available to him with center-back Cesar Montes back after serving a three-match suspension. He’ll likely be slotted straight into the starting lineup, as Lozano looks to get his tallest in the match against a Costa Rica team that is strong in the air. Erick ‘El Chiquito’ Sanchez would likely be the played to make room with Edson Alvarez pushing into midfield.
