AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER, DALLAS — Jake Paul will look to rebound from his first loss as a professional boxer when he faces former UFC fighter Nate Diaz in a scheduled 10-round bout at 185 pounds.

“The Problem Child” is 6-1 as a professional boxer with wins over AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley (twice). However, he dropped a split decision to pro boxer Tommy Fury in his last outing and hopes to get back to his winning ways against the cult hero of mixed martial arts, Nate Diaz.

Diaz finished out his UFC contract at UFC 279 last September with a submission victory over Tony Ferguson and will now try his hand at boxing after nearly two decades as a mixed martial artist.

The co-main event will feature seven-division world champion and undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano facing Heather Hardy in a rematch of their 2019 bout that Serrano won by unanimous decision. Their second meeting will be in front of a much larger crowd for more money. Can Hardy get her revenge or will Serrano retain her undisputed status?

The Sporting News will provide live coverage of Paul vs. Diaz. Stay tuned!

Better round by Diaz but maybe not enough.

SN Unofficial Scorecard: 10-9 Paul (20-18 Paul)

Round One: A little showmanship from both to start the fight. Loud chants for Diaz. Big left hand from Paul and a combination. Paul tears into Diaz with a hard right hand. He’s all over Diaz already. Short right-hand rocks Diaz. Diaz gathers himself but just looks out of sync. Body shot from Paul Diaz has nothing so far.

SN Unofficial Scorecard: 10-9 Paul

12:01 a.m. ET: The main event is up next and that means we’re going to round by round coverage from here on out as Jake Paul and Nate Diaz will clash in a few moments. Oh, and Logan Paul has arrived in the arena to see his brother fight. He’s also still wearing his ring gear from SummerSlam.

Amanda Serrano rolls to unanimous decision over gutsy Heather Hardy

Scores: 100-90, 100-90 & 99-91

11:55 p.m. ET: Serrano remains the undisputed featherweight champion by pitching a near shutout over an opponent with a ton of heart. What’s next for Serrano? Will it be a showdown with Alycia Baumgardner or will she wait for an opportunity to face Katie Taylor again?

11:49 p.m. ET: Heather Hardy is one tough cookie as she ends up going the distance with Amanda Serrano. She absorbed a lot of punishment but refused to go down. One particular sequence at the end of the 9th round saw the action stopped as blood streamed down her face. But Hardy slammed her gloves together and drew a tremendous ovation from the crowd. The 10th round was just an absolute slugfest as Hardy and Serrano threw punches nonstop for 120 seconds. A fantastic finish and even though Hardy won’t get the win, who won over the crowd.

11:41 p.m. ET: Things are taking a turn for the worse as Serrano’s heavier punches are landing with more ferocity as we move to the eighth round. Meanwhile, Logan Paul’s private jet has landed in Dallas according to his Instagram story.

11:35 p.m. ET: To the shock of many, Hardy is still here and still fighting back as we head to the sixth round. It’ll take something dramatic to turn the fight around but she’s putting on a gutsy performance against one of the best female fighters in the world.

11:29 p.m. ET: Heading into round four and it’s clear that Heather Hardy isn’t here to just cash a check. She’s fighting back and has landed a few punches but Serrano’s pinpoint accuracy and hand speed are overwhelming the Brooklyn fighter.

11:24 p.m. ET: It’s only been two minutes but Serrano is dissecting Hardy with nothing but power shots. Hardy is in way over her head tonight. How long will this last?

11:05 p.m. ET: The co-main event is upon us as undisputed women’s featherweight champion Amanda Serrano defends her titles in a rematch with Heather Hardy. Serrano and Hardy last fought in 2019 with Serrano winning a unanimous decision. Hardy hasn’t won a fight since that loss but is hoping to turn it around tonight.

Chris Avila dominates Jeremy Stephens for unanimous decision

Scores 59-55, 59-55 & 60-54

11:02 p.m. ET: As expected, Avila takes the decision by simply outworking Stephens. Nate Diaz is certainly happy but will that mojo carry over into the main event?

10:58 p.m. ET: After six strong rounds from Chris Avila it looks like he should get the nod. He landed the cleaner punches and was the busier of the two. And that’s a good sign for Team Diaz as we inch closer to the main event.

10:50 p.m. ET: Avila had Stephens in trouble at the end of the fourth round after pelting him with a series of combinations and thudding right hands. Avila is also showboating now and it’s not looking good for Stephens unless he can uncork one of those big right hands.

10:41 p.m. ET: Chris Avila started off slow but is now picking up the pace against Stephens. The end of round two saw Avila lands several combinations flush on the former UFC featherweight. Speaking of MMA, Chael Sonnen, Kevin Holland and Anthony Pettis have all been spotted in the crowd.

10:29 p.m. ET: As we wait for the next fight, Jake Paul has pulled up to American Airlines Arena in a tank. Yup, a tank.

10:23 p.m. ET: Up next is a battle of MMA fighters turned boxers as Team Diaz’s Chris Avila faces Jeremy Stephens. Stephens ended up with a draw against Jose Aldo in his pro boxing debut. Avila missed weight but the two sides agreed that the show must go on.

H20 Sylve drowns Silva with brutal body shot in the 4th round

10:07 p.m. ET: Well, Silva ended up taking another one of those brutal body shots and this time he didn’t get up. At the end of the fourth round, Sylve fired a combination that ended with a body shot even more devastating than the previous one. Silva collapsed to the canvas and had no chance of beating the count as Sylve remains undefeated and could be one to watch in the lightweight division.

10:00 p.m. ET: Sylve draws first blood in the second round by sinking Silva with a wicked body shot. It looked like Silva was going to stay down but he managed to get to his feet at the end of the round. He certainly can’t take many more of those shots.

9:40 p.m. ET: Up next is the undefeated prospect Ashton “H20” Sylve taking on William Silva.

Shadasia Green overpowers Olivia Curry for decision win

Scores: 99-91, 100-90 & 100-89

9:35 p.m. ET: Curry managed to make it to the final bell so she gets the moral victory but it’s Green and her power punching that take the decision. Green is going to be a problem for a lot of women but it will be interesting to see if he can reach the upper crust of the super middleweight division.

9:27 p.m. ET: Well, this fight is still going as we enter the ninth round. Curry just won’t go away and Green continues to land power shots that are breaking through her guard. Curry deserves a lot of credit for being this game.

9:20 p.m. ET: Green has finally broken through. At the end of a competitive sixth round, Green clocked Curry with a pair of brutal right hands. Curry refused to go down but was badly wobbled. Can Green finish the job in the seventh?

9:09 p.m. ET: After three rounds, Curry has kept things competitive with Green. She’s showing off an impressive chin while dishing out her own punishment. An upset is probably not in the cards but Curry is making a good account of herself thus far.

8:54 p.m. ET: Up next is rising women’s super middleweight Shadasia Green taking on Olivia Curry. Green has her sights set on the biggest names in boxing but will need to be impressive tonight.

Alan Sanchez takes unanimous decision over Angel Beltran

Scores: 77-75, 78-74 & 79-73

8:49 p.m. ET: After seven solid but relatively uneventful rounds, Sanchez and Beltran delivered an absolute slugfest in the 8th and final round that got everyone out of their seats. The decision is up now.

8:28 p.m. ET: Over in Detroit, Logan Paul just picked up the win over Ricochet at WWE SummerSlam (check out our live blog). He has roughly 3.5 hours to make it out of Detroit and to Dallas in order to be ringside for Jake Paul’s fight with Nate Diaz.

8:02 p.m. ET: Welcome everyone to The Sporting News’ live coverage of Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz! The building is about halfway full, which is impressive for your average boxing event but that’s the crowd that Jake Paul has. We’re kicking things off with Alan Sanchez vs. Angel Beltran Villa.
