Whenever the college football season gets to its halfway point, there are always a handful of teams outperforming what pundits projected before the season. The ACC is currently at the top of the crazy scenarios that could play out. The ACC football odds for the conference winner reflect the chaos.

That’s because this is the first year the ACC does not have divisions in its conference. This has led to a scenario where there are currently three undefeated ACC teams, and none of the three teams plays each other during the regular season.

What does all that mean? There is potential for Florida State, North Carolina, and Louisville to all be undefeated at the season’s end, which would mean one would get left out of the conference championship game.

It is fun to think about the insanity of this situation, but with that, let’s look at the current odds for every team to win the ACC Championship Game. The conference championship game will played on December 2nd, at Bank of America Stadium, with an 8:00 pm EST scheduled kickoff.

ACC betting favorites

Unsurprisingly, Florida State, Louisville, and North Carolina are the top three betting favorites to win the ACC, as they are the last three teams in the conference to be undefeated.

Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles have already had several massive season-defining wins, which has led to them being the current betting odds favorite to win the 2023 ACC conference championship.

Beating LSU, and not just beating them but blowing out the Tigers 45-24 in the season opener, announced to all of college football the Seminoles were looking to make a run at the College Football Playoff.

Yet avoiding a letdown against Boston College, followed by an overtime win against Clemson, has proved that Florida State is focused on going undefeated.

Jordan Travis has grown immensely at the quarterback spot for Florida State, taking care of the football with only one interception on the season while still having 12 touchdown passes.

Louisville Cardinals

The ACC Cinderella team in 2023 is the Louisville Cardinals, who outperform any pre-season projections. A ranked team had not tested them until last week when the Cardinals faced Notre Dame.

Louisville not only showed up but dominated a very good Notre Dame team. This was the proof fans around the country needed to see to know that Jeff Brohm and Louisville were real contenders.

North Carolina Tar Heels

While the Tar Heels lost a lot of talent this past offseason, North Carolina has seemingly reloaded.  Most importantly, they have a Heisman hopeful and 2024 NFL draft 1st-round pick in Drake Maye at quarterback.

This week will be a big test for the Tar Heels when they face their first-ranked season opponent and host Miami in primetime at 7:30 pm EST on ABC this Saturday.

There will be a lot of eyes on North Carolina to see how they perform and see if the team is strong enough or whether Maye will have to carry the Tar Heels on his shoulders.

ACC betting longshots

Clemson Tigers

A disappointing season so far, at least to the Clemson standard. After losing in overtime to Florida State, it felt like the season may be over.

While making the College Football Playoff is highly unlikely, with North Carolina still on the schedule, they could still find their way into the ACC conference championship game if Clemson runs the table.

Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils are experiencing one of their best seasons under head coach Mike Elko in a long time. Riley Leonard introduced himself as a star with his season-opening win against Clemson. Leonard is dealing with a high ankle sprain, and his health may determine Duke’s chances to compete for a conference championship.

Duke may be disappointed after their loss to Notre Dame, but the Blue Devils have not lost a conference game. With Florida State, Louisville, and North Carolina on their schedule, Duke controls their destiny to make the 2023 ACC conference championship game.

Miami Hurricanes

A loss to Georgia Tech in stunning fashion has essentially given the Hurricanes a flat tire.

If Miami can get it patched quickly, there is plenty of talent to still compete for a conference championship. Tyler Van Dyke is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in college football.

The margin of error after the Georgia Tech loss is much smaller. However, Miami is still in the running to make it to Bank of America Stadium for the 2023 ACC conference championship game.

2023 ACC conference championship prediction: Drake Maye leads the Tar Heels to glory

Quarterbacks run the sport of football.

Oftentimes, if teams are even close to one another talent-wise, the team with the better quarterback almost always finds a way to win in late-game situations.

With the best quarterback this side of the Mississippi in Drake Maye, the Tar Heels will find their way into the ACC championship game and stand a good chance to win, plus the odds value is hard to overlook.
