The Pro Bowl was reimagined in 2023, with a series of skills competitions and flag football games replacing the traditional standalone Pro Bowl.
While the results of the change are still mixed as it relates to TV ratings, the new format offers something for everyone. Some of the NFL’s best players will compete in classic games, such as dodgeball and tug-of-war while others test out their arms or even their golf skills.
Most competitions have been brought over from last year’s events, but some, such as closest to the pin, have been revised from 2023. Tug-of-war is the new addition to the lineup this year, giving players one more opportunity to test their strength in a game played widely among children.
While the Chiefs and 49ers prepare to head to Las Vegas, the rest of the NFL’s stars will converge on Orlando for one of the league’s last events of the 2023 season.

NFL Pro Bowl skills competition scoring
The winning conference in each skill competition will earn points, with more points available during the first two flag football games before the final flag football game.
There are nine skills competitions this year, up from eight in 2023, plus the three flag football games. Tug-of-war has been added to the lineup, while the closest-to-the-pin competition replaces last year’s longest drive contest in a golf shakeup and high stakes replaces the lightning round.
The conference with the most points between the skills competitions and flag football games will win the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.

Pro Bowl best catch results
The NFL is loaded with skilled receivers, and some of the best will compete for the best catch in one of the Pro Bowl’s most exciting competitions. This one comes with a twist: Fans will be able to vote online for the best catch.
7:34 p.m. — Now Browns TE David Njoku makes a mid-air catch off of a backflip into a pool. His pass came from Chad Henne. We await the fan-voted winner on Sunday…
7:33 p.m. — The pre-taped video shows Rams WR Puka Nacua making a catch while…waterskiing? His quarterback was Jimmy Clausen, naturally.
Pro Bowl precision passing results
Baker Mayfield won the precision passing contest, drilling the most valuable targets in the first round to be the NFC’s representative in the final. Mayfield beat out Texans QB C.J. Stroud in the final round.
Final
Player | Points |
Baker Mayfield | 9 |
C.J. Stroud | 8 |
First round
Player | Points |
---|---|
Baker Mayfield | 24 |

Jalen Hurts | 17 |
C.J. Stroud | 26 |

7:30 p.m. — Mayfield wins it for the NFC! He gives the credit to his Pro Bowl coach, Eli Manning, who agrees.
7:22 p.m. — It’ll be Mayfield and Stroud, the South division standouts, in the finals.
7:18 p.m. — Mayfield will move on after Jalen Hurts tries to go big and comes up short with a competition-low 17 points.
7:14 p.m. — Minshew can’t sustain a strong start and leaves Stroud’s 26 as the AFC’s score to beat.
7:12 p.m. — Geno Smith posts a 20, so Mayfield’s 24 is still the NFC’s score to beat.
7:07 p.m. — After posting a 24, Baker Mayfield gets asked about his “dad bod” in an interview with Ryan Clark and jokes about his season-ending interception to Derrick Barnes. All in good fun at the Pro Bowl.
