Justin Rose returns to defend his title at Pebble Beach this week, but he’ll be competing against some of the best of the PGA Tour in the 80-player field. All professionals will also be paired with amateurs, who will play for the first two rounds of the tournament.

Nine of the top-10 ranked golfers will play, including No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He’ll be making his debut at this event and competing at Pebble Beach for only the second time. The last time Scheffler golfed on this course in 2019, he missed the cut at the U.S. Open.

Rory McIlroy – ranked one spot below Scheffler – will compete in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the first time since 2018. He missed the cut then, but returned to the course for the 2019 U.S. Open where he finished ninth.

Viktor Hovland will also be in attendance this weekend after he became the third-youngest FedEx Cup champion in 2023 at age 25. Nick Dunlap, who won the 2023 U.S. Amateur title and stunned the field by winning the American Express tournament two weeks ago, will make his professional debut.

The the first two rounds were played over two courses – Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. Both are par-72 and have a course record of 62, reached multiple times. Thomas Detry missed matching that score at Spyglass Hill by one stroke Thursday and takes a share of the lead into the weekend at 11 under for the tournament.

Scottie Scheffler shot 64 Friday to move into a tie for the lead along with fellow 2023 Ryder Cup participant Ludvig Aberg, who carded a 65. Patrick Cantlay is a shot back of them in fourth at 10 under.
