Introducing your new NCAA women’s basketball scoring leader, Caitlin Clark.

The Iowa superstar turned in a historic performance in the Hawkeyes’ 106-89 win over Michigan. The hometown hero scored a program-record 49 points to break Kelsey Plum’s career points record. Clark becomes the NCAA leader with 3,569 points and counting.

The record-breaking basket came just 2 minutes and 12 seconds into the game, as she scored the first eight points of the game for Iowa. The logo three-pointer is the signature Clark shot, so it’s hard to imagine a more perfect way to make history.

By the end of the first quarter, Clark had 23 points, more than Michigan’s entire team. She assisted on every point she didn’t make herself. She was unmatched, as Iowa’s celebratory newspapers proclaimed.

The star senior added 13 assists on the night for a double-double.

And she’s not done yet. Clark has four more regular season games as well as the postseason to further cement her legacy. She’s 99 points from breaking Pete Maravich’s record and becoming the all-time NCAA Division I basketball scoring leader.

The Sporting News tracked Iowa’s win against Michigan, including updates and highlights from the game and Clark’s record chasing.
