New York Yankees star Juan Soto is not in the starting lineup Sunday and is expected to undergo more testing when the team returns home.
Soto was a late scratch ahead of Saturday’s 9-3 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays and while initial imaging tests were negative, the Yankees are being careful with the star outfielder.
Soto told reporters ahead of Sunday’s game that he expects to undergo further testing when the team returns to New York.
Juan Soto expects to have more tests on hand when the team returns to NY. Said trainers will evaluate today to see what (if) that’s necessary. Added it hurt to grip a bat yesterday #yankees

Considering the Yankees have the day off Monday, it wasn’t expected that Soto would be in the starting lineup for the series finale against the Blue Jays.
Fellow Yankees star Aaron Judge is playing right field on Sunday while Trent Grisham takes on the centerfield role.
Soto has been one of the best players in MLB this season with a .302 batting average, 20 home runs, 60 RBI, 69 walks and a 1.004 OPS in 81 games.
