Blockbuster baseball is back and better than ever.
The Yankees finally snatched a World Series win from the Dodgers in the Bronx, pummeling the Los Angeles bullpen Tuesday in an 11-4 victory. Four of those runs came in the third thanks to Anthony Volpe’s grand slamβhis first postseason home run and a ray of hope for waiting fans in the left field stands.
A Yankee fan since birth, the 23-year-old became the fourth-youngest player to hit a four-run shot in the Fall Classic, behind legendary New York sluggers Mickey Mantle and Gil McDougald, who sandwich Cubs shortstop Addison Russell in second.
That wasn’t the only cinematic moment from Game 4, which delivered on all fronts.
Freddie Freeman continued his generational World Series run with a first-inning home run. The Dodger first baseman has four home runs in this year’s rivalry clash, including a walk-off grand slam to open the series in Los Angeles β the first in championship history.
A fifth home run tonight would not only help the historic franchise to its first title since 2020 and eighth overall, it would put him on par with postseason greats Chase Utley, Reggie Jackson and George Springer to name a few.
Not to mention Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, who are still in the mix, though the two have had opposite postseason performances. In his first career World Series appearance, the Japanese phenom has four runs in 13 at-bats after submitting an average over .300 through the first two rounds.
MORE: Who is Yankees fan who interfered with Mookie Betts?
On the other hand, Judge has an abysmal .198 postseason batting average through his seven-year career in New York β not a resume one would hope to see from an AL MVP frontrunner. He secured a .458 regular season on-base percentage and a .322 average, though, leading many to believe he’s on the brink of a breakthrough.
Game 5 is bound to deliver, with the Dodgers one win away from a Vin Scully-Fernando Valenzuela tribute title while New York fights for survival in the Bronx. The live score, including Dodgers vs. Yankees updates, highlights and results from Game 5 will be available here.
