The ACC will have a heavy presence at the NCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse championships this weekend. 

Three ACC schools are in the men’s national semifinals. No. 1 Duke (15-2) faces No. 5 Penn State (11-4) from the Big Ten in the first matchup Saturday. No. 2 Virginia (13-3) and No. 3 Notre Dame (12-2) meet in an all-ACC semifinal in the second matchup.

On the women’s side, two ACC schools made a Final Four in which three of the top four seeds advanced. No. 1 Northwestern (19-1) – the defending national champion – takes on No. 5 Denver (22-0), No. 2 Syracuse (18-2) faces No. 3 Boston College (18-3) in the second  matchup on Friday.

Here are the schedules and reasons to watch this weekend’s NCAA championship tournaments: 

NCAA lacrosse tournament men’s Final Four schedule, TV channels

The men’s national semifinals and final will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

NCAA lacrosse tournament men’s Final Four matchups

  • No. 1 Duke (15-2) vs. No. 5 Penn State (11-4) 

The Blue Devils had a scare from Delaware in the first round in a 12-11 victory, but they handled Michigan in the second round with a 15-8 win. Jack Naso helps Duke control games with a .629 percentage on faceoffs. Brennan O’Neill had six goals against the Wolverines. Duke is 3-0 when it reaches the national championship game. The Nittany Lions won one-goal thrillers against Princeton and Army in the first two rounds, and Jack Fracyon has the highest save percentage at .572 of any goalie left in the tournament. Penn State has won six of their last seven games. TJ Malone has scored 10 points in the last two games for Penn State 

  • No. 2 Virginia (13-3) vs. No. 3 Notre Dame (12-2) 

The Cavaliers scored 17 goals in victories against Richmond and Georgetown. Connor Shellenberger is Virginia’s team leader, and he’s hot at the right time. He has 16 points in the tournament. He had five assists in the Cavaliers’ 15-10 victory against the Irish on March 25. Notre Dame senior Pat Kavanagh leads the nation in assists, and his brother Chris had four goals in the 12-9 victory against Johns Hopkins in the second round. Goalie Liam Entenmann has a .605 save percentage in tournament victories against Utah and Johns Hopkins. The Irish are still looking for the school’s first national title in lacrosse.

NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament Final Four schedule, TV channels

The women’s national semifinals and final will be played at WakeMed Soccer in Cary, N.C.

NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament Final Four matchups

  • No. 1 Northwestern (19-1) vs. No. 5 Denver (22-0) 

The Wildcats lost their opener at Syracuse and haven’t lost since. Attacker Izzy Scane is the nation’s leading scorer with 89 goals and 31 assists. The all-time single-season record for goals in a season is 98. Attacker Erin Coykendall has 55 goals and 43 assists. The Pioneers are making their first appearance in the national semifinals, and they have five players with 40 or more points. Senior attacker Julia Gilbert leads the offense with 58 goals. Goalie Emelia Bohi ranks fifth in the nation with a .526 save percentage. 

  • No. 2 Syracuse (18-2) vs. No. 3 Boston College (18-3) 

This is a rematch of the 2021 national championship game, which the Eagles won 16-10. Meaghan Tyrrell leads the Orange offense with 55 goals and 52 assists. Emma Ward, who has 92 points, Megan Carney combined for one of the best goals of the tournament against James Madison. The Eagles won the regular-season meeting 17-16 on April 20. Attacker Jenn Medjid leads the offense with 77 goals and 23 assists. Kayla Martello and Belle Smith have 57 and 50 goals, respectively.
