This year’s version of America’s Game marks the 124th meeting between Army and Navy. In the rivalry’s first overtime game last year, the Army took the win in double OT for its fifth in seven matchups.

For both teams, this game will be the last of the season. Army and Navy each finished the regular season 5-6, but even the winning academy, which will move to 6-6, is not eligible for a bowl game. That just means there will be all the more pressure for the Black Knights and Midshipmen to finish the year with a win over their rival.

Army seems to have the momentum, as it’s on a three-game win streak that began with a shocking upset over Air Force. If the Black Knights can beat the Navy, they’ll win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy outright. However, if the Midshipmen can pull out a win after an up-and-down season, no team will solely take home the trophy; the three academies will share it.

This may be the final “normal” meeting between the rivals. Army will move to the American Athletic Conference next season, which Navy is already a member of in football. It’s possible the two will face off more than once in a season in the conference championship game. But don’t worry, America’s Game will stay as is, slated for mid-December.
