It’s a stacked field of 156 players teeing it up this week at the PGA Tour’s third major.
All the big boys are here at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 2. This is the one everyone — and we mean everyone — wants to win. Don’t believe us? Well, there were 109 local qualifying sites that led to a record 10,052 players putting their hat in the ring to tee it up with the best-of-the-best.
So while most bettors are poring over the odds and looking for that little nugget that might let them pick the winner, we’re going to hand out a few prop bets that will hopefully let everyone settle back and watch four days of impressive play.
We’re going to use DraftKings for the prop odds. If you’re looking for a solo winner, check out our main story on the U.S. Open. But if you want a little variety in your wagering at top-rated US sportsbooks, we’re here for you.
Three chances to cash in
We’re going to look at a three-way bet to win. Check out the trio of Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka and Cam Smith to win this week at +700.
While Morikawa hasn’t won in 2024, he’s been as close as anyone not named Scottie Scheffler. In his last three tournaments, he’s finished T-4 (PGA Championship), solo fourth (Charles Schwab Challege) and solo second (last week at the Memorial).
For Koepka, the reasoning is simple: He wins majors. He’s got five majors on his resume (including the 2023 PGA Championship after he jumped to LIV).
Smith just seems to hang around the first page of the leaderboard at majors. He won three times on the PGA Tour in 2022 including the Open Championship, so he’s comfortable in the spotlight.

Bryson DeChambeau to play in final group on Sunday
Check out a bet on who will be in the final pairing on Sunday. We are going to take a flier on Bryson DeChambeau to be in that group at +1000. DeChambeau comes in to his third major in fine form as he was sixth at the Masters and T-2 at the PGA Championship.
With those two finishes, we like his chances of being in the hunt this week and that just might include teeing it up late in the day in that final group.
Value bet on Scottie Scheffler
If you’re a Scottie Scheffler fan (and right now, who isn’t?) but don’t like his +400 odds to win, here’s another option for you: Scheffler to lead after the first round and go on to win at +1400.
Granted, he hasn’t seen the course in all its glory (and toughness) yet, but the way he’s playing now, that +1400 is pretty good.
Winner to win by one stroke
The odds on the 2024 U.S. Open champ winning by one stroke at +240 is intriguing to us. The last three winners have won by a single stroke and that was the winning margin in five of the last nine U.S. Opens.
With the star power in this field, there’s a good chance it comes down to a made or missed putt on the 72nd hole.
