The Braves’ worst nightmare is unfolding before their eyes right now. Their NLDS against the Phillies has been a mirror image of last year’s NLDS that saw the Phillies upset the Braves in four games. The series last year was Phillies game 1, Braves Game 2, and then the Phillies won Game 3 and 4 to take the series.
Here, we look at odds, props, and predictions for Game 4 of this Braves vs. Phillies NLDS.
Atlanta will put their star pitcher, Spencer Strider, on the mound in Game 4 at Citizens Bank Park with the first pitch at 6:07 pm EST, trying to force a Game 5. If the Braves can force a Game 5, the series odds would likely be in their favor, with the pivotal game back in Atlanta.

Atlanta was embarrassed in Game 3, but many knew that with only two starters the manager Brian Snitker was confident in, that Game 3 could happen.
Like our Braves vs. Phillies series prediction, though, we gave Atlanta the nod in five games as their top two starters would get to start up to four games, while the Phillies would only be able to start their top two pitches in three potential games.
Odds for Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves Game 4
With the series on the line and the Braves having their ace Spencer Strider starting the game, it is no surprise to see them as slight favorites in Game 4.
Philadelphia Phillies betting news
Philadelphia has proven itself to be an incredible playoff baseball team in the past few seasons. While Philadelphia has not won the NL East in either of the past two seasons, they have beat the division winner (Atlanta Braves) last postseason and have a 2-1 series lead in this year’s NLDS series.
The 10-2 beatdown of Atlanta in Game 3 was a statement win and, in some ways, felt like a must-win game for Philadelphia. The Phillies had one of their two aces on the mound, while the Braves most certainly did not. If Philadelphia had not won Game 3, facing the Braves top two starters in Game 4 and 5 would have been an almost impossible situation.
Now the Phillies have to win only one out of two, and even if they lose game 4, they turn the ball back over to the best pitcher on their staff, Zack Wheeler. He has been dominant this postseason with a 2.08 ERA and 18 strikeouts, 13 innings pitched through three starts.
Don’t overlook their Game 4 starter, though, in Ranger Suarez, who, while he got pulled early in Game 1, still went 3.2 innings and did not allow a run while striking out four. Suarez looked angry when he got pulled and will surely be pitching to prove he can go much longer against the Braves this time.
Atlanta Braves betting news
The Braves are now in desperation mode, as it is win or go home for Atlanta in Game 4 against the Phillies. The Braves may have been smart, though; even though they took it on the nose in Game 3, they saved their bullpen by allowing rookie A.J. Smith-Shawver to throw 2.2 innings even though he allowed three home runs.

It was definitely a situation where manager Brian Snitker almost had to punt on Game 3, save his bullpen, and win Game 4 and 5 to try to advance to the National League Championship Series. While the Braves only scored 2 runs in game 3, Atlanta did have 10 hits and had several long, deep-fly balls that were close to being homers.
Not to mention, the Braves offense as well noted, it is one of the best in MLB history, so more attention goes to Atlanta’s pitching because if Spencer Strider and the bullpen can keep it close, the Braves lineup should do the rest.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves Game 4 prediction: Atlanta forces fifth game
Through the series’ first three games, the Phillies have leaned on their top bullpen arms more than Atlanta. Only one Philadelphia reliever has given up a run in the series.
Yet one has to wonder if the Braves can get to Range Suarez early or if Phillies manager Rob Thomson wants to have a short leash like he did in game one with Suarez; when does the Phillies bullpen start to have a few leaks?
After the short leash in Game 1, it does not make anyone think Thomson will allow Suarez to go deep in Game 4, and the Phillies bullpen may be unable to keep up. It will be interesting to see as well. If the Braves take an early lead, will Philadelphia try to limit the damage using their best relievers or do what Atlanta did, save arms, and wait for Game 5?
All of this adds up to Atlanta having a great chance to win Game 4, and so far, the team that has been the moneyline favorite has been the winner in two out of three games in this series.
