The 2023 FIFA Club World Cup operated within the majority of European domestic campaigns as Manchester City headed to Saudi Arabia as UEFA Champions League winners and representatives.

Pep Guardiola’s side took a break from Premier League action in mid-December to challenge for a potential first-ever world title, after clinching a debut Champions League in June 2023. They emerged victorious after defeating Fluminense 4-0 in the final.

City’s achievement also made manager Guardiola the first man to win the trophy four times, having done so previously in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as the Citizens became the fourth English world champions after Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

As well as the pride and prestige on offer in Jeddah, FIFA made a sizeable amount of prize money available to the competing teams.

The Sporting News has the full details on the tournament including how much money winners Man City collected in 2023.
