The 2024 French Open is entering its final stages, and two of the world’s best women’s players will face off in the semifinals.

No. 1 Iga Swiatek and No. 3 Coco Gauff have advanced through five rounds of tennis and will play for a spot in the French Open final. They’ve been dominant in their careers, combining for 28 singles titles and over 500 singles wins.

Swiatek has an impressive resume at just 23, earning the No. 1 ranking in the world. She has 21 singles titles, four of which have come in 2024, and a 319-70 career record.

Gauff has seven singles titles to her name but also owns eight doubles titles in her career. She won the WTA Auckland Open in January.

Swiatek and Gauff faced off once before this past year, with Swiatek taking that win in two sets at the Italian Open semifinals in May. The rematch at the French Open semifinals is scheduled for Thursday, June 6 at 9 a.m. ET.

Coco Gauff vs. Iga Swiatek live updates, highlights from French Open 2024

(All times Eastern)

9:55 a.m.: Gauff’s forehand was an issue in the first set, but she recovered enough to pick up in early lead in the second set. Swiatek still showed plenty of fight, forcing deuce a handful of times before dropping the game. Promising from Gauff, but there’s still work to do.

9:47 a.m.: Swiatek takes the first set 6-2. Gauff can’t return a serve on set point to give the women’s No. 1 an early lead in the match. Unforced errors remain a problem for Gauff, who needs to take this brief break to gather herself.

9:44 a.m.: Some life from Gauff, who makes it 5-2 with an impressive game. If she can find her composure now, this could still turn out to be a formidable match. Gauff needed to pick up a win here. Things were starting to look bleak.

9:41 a.m.: This first set is getting away from Gauff. She’s had moments where she’s pushed Swiatek, but the women’s No. 1 has proved to be too much. Swiatek pushes her lead to 5-1 in the first set after another strong game. Without a massive rally, Gauff is going to have to find a way to recover in the second set. Her chances at a comeback in the first set appear slim.

9:37 a.m.: Unforced errors are becoming a major problem for Gauff, who also drops Game 5 to go down 4-1 in the. first set. Gauff has done enough at Roland Garros to secure the No. 2 women’s ranking when those rankings are updated Monday, but Swiatek has been in command early in this one. Gauff will need to find her stride to make his competitive.

9:32 a.m.: Gauff is battling to stay in a hard-fought Game 4. She and Swiatek went back-and-forth multiple times in the contest, with Gauff getting the best of Swiatek a few times.

It wasn’t enough, however. Despite trading points late, Swiatek takes this one to go up 3-1 in the first set.

9:26 a.m.: Now we’ve got a match. Gauff finds her footing in Game 3, nailing some key serves to take a win. She still trails 2-1 in the first set, but this was a nice recovery.

9:22 a.m.: Gauff battled in the second game, coming back from and early deficit to force deuce, but couldn’t hold on. Swiatek takes an early 2-0 lead in the first set.

9:18 a.m.: And just like that, Swiatek is already up a game in the first set. Gauff struggled with serves early, opening the door for Swiatek to snag an early lead. Still plenty of tennis left to be played, obviously, but Gauff staying calm will be a major key if she wants to pull off an upset.

9:04 a.m: The excitement is building for another meeting between Gauff and Swiatek. Both competitors arrived at Roland Garros on Thursday morning and are preparing for another classic match.

Swiatek is 10-1 vs. Guaff over their careers. But Gauff is playing some of her best tennis right now. It should be a fun one.
