Coco Gauff has done almost everything one can do in tennis before turning 20.
She’s competed at a high level in all four grand slam events, reaching the French Open final in 2022 and earning back-to-back appearances in the US Open quarterfinals. All that’s left is winning a grand slam. This year’s US Open might her best chance yet.
Gauff rolled past Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round on Sunday, dominating the third set after dropping the second. She also might have gotten a break with top seed Iga Swiatek losing to Jelena Ostapenko. While Ostapenko is formidable herself, Swiatek has a championship pedigree after winning last year’s US Open as well as three French Open titles.
In a wide-open field, Gauff finds herself three wins away from glory.
