In the last five years, drafting a tight end has been a headache for the vast majority of drafters. Unless you drafted Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews, you likely left your draft with some skepticism about the quality of your tight end. To make matters even worse, Kelce and Andrews disappointed drafters last year.

But the tight end landscape is changing this year. New talent emerged across the league. From Sam LaPorta to Dalton Kincaid and Trey McBride, the new era of tight end has arrived. Given the young talent across the board, there are arguably nine tight ends who could finish as this year’s TE1.

In past years, many drafters would advocate for the Punt TE strategy where you wouldn’t fill your tight end slot until the final few rounds of the draft. Given the top-heavy nature of the position this year, Punt TE should be a last resort. Drafting a top-8 player should be the priority of every drafter.

Fantasy managers also have a variety of choices among the upper-tier tight ends. Do you want to go with ol’ reliable in Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews? Both feature discounted prices this year. Interested in taking a dip in the young talents who could explode in 2024? Dalton Kincaid and Trey McBride are available in Round 5. Are you willing to try the Kyle Pitts experiment for another year? You can grab him in Round 6.

Regardless of the route you prefer to go down, keep this rankings sheet handy to make sure you’re not drafting a player too aggressively. Check back in regularly as these rankings will be updated throughout the offseason until Week 1 begins.

Tight End Standard, Non-PPR Rankings: Who should you draft at TE in fantasy football leagues?

Unfortunately, the size of most leagues dictates that there will be a handful of teams who will be unable to roster a top-8 option. If you find yourself in this situation, there are several serviceable options that could rise up the ranks this season.

The Sporting News’ favorite late-round tight ends include Noah Fant, Tyler Conklin, and Ben Sinnott. All three of these tight ends require a minuscule investment and can be scooped up in the final rounds of drafts. If you do employ the Punt TE strategy, consider one of these options.
