The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is all set for its grand conclusion. After two months of non-stop cricketing action, it has all come down to two teams and one final match.

Though the final was supposed to take place on Sunday, weather gods intervened and made sure the game was rescheduled to Monday, the reserve day.

League-stage toppers Gujarat Titans are up against charismatic Chennai Super Kings in the marquee clash of this season at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

There is a lot at stake for both teams. While CSK and MS Dhoni have a date with destiny, Gujarat Titans have their own piece of history to chase.

CSK will equal Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL titles with a win on Sunday while GT have a unique chance of winning two titles in two years of their existence. It will also be their captain Hardik Pandya’s record-equalling sixth IPL title.

An absolutely intriguing battle awaits us and hopefully, one without weather interventions. It’s CSK vs GT for the IPL champions’ gong. You can bet on this match in India here.

IPL Final 2023 LIVE Scorecard

Here’s the LIVE scorecard of the IPL final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

CSK vs GT IPL Final Live Updates

Follow our live updates below for all the action from CSK vs GT. (All times IST)

23:00- Still no sign of play resuming: Although the groundsmen are doing their level best to ensure that the outfield can be dry as much as possible, one of the practice pitches continues to bother the ground staff as well as the umpires who have walked out for inspection. Next inspection set to take place at 23:30, but things looking much better than they did during the previous inspection.

22:18- Covers are coming off: Good news out there as the covers are coming off. However, the groundsmen will need some time to dry the ground. Next official update will be at 22:45, stay tuned.

22:10- Par scores for CSK: The host broadcasters mentioned on air that no overs will be lost if rain persists till midnight, which means we have roughly an hour and 50 minutes to go before the DLS method comes into play.

However, if the overs are lost, here is the list of the par scores for CSK:

At the end of 5 overs: 43/0, 48/1, 55/2, 65/3, 77/4, 95/5
At the end of 10 overs: 91/0, 94/1, 98/2, 102/3
At the end of 12 overs: 112/0, 114/1, 117/2. 120/3

21:50- Rain makes its return: The covers are on the field and the players walk off it as rain makes its way back. The forecast tells us that there won’t be any heavy showers this evening, just slight drizzles. But how will this impact the game? Let’s hope the action resumes soon. Stay tuned for further updates!

21:45- Start of CSK’s innings: The chase is about to begin. CSK need 215 to win their fifth IPL. GT need to concede 213 runs or less to defend their crown. 214 will give us the first Super Over of IPL 2023. Mohammed Shami has the new ball, Ruturaj Gaikwad is on strike with his opening partner Devon Conway on the non-striker’s end. Joshua Little comes in as the Impact Player for the Titans in place of Sai Sudharsan.

21:35- Rain delays the start of play: There is a slight drizzle in Ahmedabad at the moment which has delayed the start of the second innings. Stay tuned for more updates.

21:13- GT 214-4 (20), end of innings: GT have posted a mammoth total on the board, adding 71 runs in the last five overs. A cameo from Hardik Pandya and a blistering knock from Sai Sudharsan – who was unlucky as he fell just four runs short of his maiden IPL century – made batting look like a cakewalk against the likes of Matheesha Pathirana. Will CSK chase this total down, or will GT retain their crown in their home ground? We’ll back with all the updates on the other side of this innings break.

20:47- GT 148-2 (15.3), 50 for Sai Sudharsan: The young southpaw gets to his fifty with a boundary and is looking increasingly dangerous in the middle.

20:43- GT 143-2 (15): Although GT lost Saha at the end of the 14th over, Sudharsan has kept the run rate up as he smashed Theekshana for consecutive sixes to reach 48 runs. GT will hope to add at least 60 more runs from here on considering they have eight more wickets in hand with David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan yet to come.

20:31- GT 116-1 (12.3), 50 for Wriddhiman Saha: The GT opener brings up only his second half-century of this season, and what an occasion to do so. The partnership between Saha and Sudharsan is also nearing 50 runs.

20:19- GT 86-1 (10): We have reached the halfway stage of the GT innings. Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana have managed to apply the breaks, conceding just 24 runs in the last four overs. Saha and Sai Sudharsan will have to accelerate in order to post an intimidating total.

20:05- GT 67-1 (7), Gill departs!: Some lightning quick handwork by MSD behind the stumps results in Gill being dismissed on 39. It was a good ball by Ravindra Jadeja and CSK have their first breakthrough. Gill falls just 10 runs short of breaching the 900-run mark in IPL 2023.

20:00- GT 62-0 (6), End of powerplay: Saha and Gill have gotten the Titans off to an absolute flier, scoring at 10.33 runs per over. The first two overs, bowled by Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, were quiet. Infact, Chahar dropped Gill off Deshpande’s bowling, and CSK have conceded a flurry of boundaries since then. It’ll be interesting to see what Dhoni plans to do in the middle overs.

19:30- The Final begins: The players are out in the middle. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha will be opening for Gujarat Titans, with the latter on strike. The new ball has been handed to Deepak Chahar. No surprises there. We are set on an enthralling finale!

19:10- Lineups for the Final:

CSK: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana

Subs: Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Subhranshu Senapati, Shaik Rasheed, Akash Singh

GT: Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (C), Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami

Subs: Joshua Little, Odean Smith, KS Bharat, Shivam Mavi, R Sai Kishore

19:00- TOSS, Chennai Super Kings win the toss and elect to bowl first: The two captains are out in the middle and we are going to get a rain-free game hopefully. MS Dhoni wins the toss and Chennai Super Kings are going to field first.

18:50- King performs in the closing ceremony!

18:39- Pitch Report from Simon Doull and Matthew Hayden: The pitch is in the centre of the square. 66 meter square boundaries on each side, and 74 meters down the ground. Slight changes today in the atmospheric conditions – it’s cooler this evening. I think that’s going to help the ball swing around a little bit. Has much changed from yesterday? Not really. If anything, remember last night we had those grass clippings that were rolled in. Maybe they’ve been removed a little bit which could bring in the slow pace bowlers, especially on a good length where guys like Mohit hit it hard, take the pace off. And of course we’ve got the quality spinners from both teams. I predict it’s going to be around 180 (par score). Whatever happens though, you have to have a bat, particularly CSK.

18:30– The weather remains fine so far, and it’s been a clear and sunny day compared to yesterday’s water show. Hopefully more of the same. The closing ceremony should begin soon.

17:30- Welcome back to TSN’s live coverage of CSK vs GT in the IPL 2023 Final. Let’s hope the weather behaves well today and we get to see these two talented sides put up an excellent show worthy of the occasion.

Tendulkar full of praise for Gill

Will yesterday’s rain have an effect on the pitch?

Narendra Modi stadium has been batter’s paradise this season, with an average first innings score of 193 in eight games.

However, will the rain have an effect on the surface? It looks unlikely as Friday the ground received some rain and Shubman Gill proceeded to slam bang GT to a score of 233 against MI in Qualifier 2.

What’s the weather looking like on Monday?

It’s looking much much better on Monday. The chances of rain are almost none during the day but evening might see short showers. But then again, you can never predict weather accurately.

Let’s hope we get a full 40-over game tonight.

00:30- The IPL organisers have confirmed that tickets for the Final will carry forward to Monday. You can read more on that here.

23:00- It’s official! The match will be postponed to tomorrow due to rain, the first time ever in IPL history. Disappointing for fans to wait all this time, but it was what was needed to ensure both these teams have a full match to play and bring the best out of one another.

21:25- The rain keeps coming and going, with all these amazing players the weather’s acting as the protagonist!

20:10- Should a match not be possible at all today, there will be a reserve day tomorrow where GT and CSK can play out a full final (barring another set of rain interruptions). Let’s hope that isn’t the case.

18:40- Rain has started in Ahmedabad and the covers are on. Hopefully, we don’t get much of a delay. Here’s what will happen if the Final is rained off.

17:58- Ambati Raydu has announced his retirement from IPL.

17:45- Welcome to TSN’s IPL Final live coverage we will also be taking a look at the performances in the closing ceremony to hype us up for the clash between these two giants which should be an exciting affair!

We have an IPL Mid Show tonight

Folks, we will have a closing ceremony before the game tonight. This piece has everything you need to know about the same.

Eyes on the prize

This is what the teams are playing for tonight. The glittering golden IPL trophy.

A sea of yellow in Ahmedabad?

Ahmedabad might be the Gujarat Titans’ den but the CSK fans are apparently on a mission to deck the place out in yellow. It’s going to be an electric atmosphere for sure.

Shami, Rashid and Mohit – GT’s wicket-taking arsenal

Gujarat Titans probably have the strongest bowling attack and it is no wonder that the top 3 wicket takers in IPL this season all belong to GT.

Mohammed Shami is the leader of the Purple Cap race with 28 wickets. Rashid Khan is not far behind with 27 and Mohit Sharma has 24 wickets.

What terrific resources to have as a captain, especially in an IPL final!

Can Gill score 123?

Shubman Gill is the toast of the town in Ahmedabad right now. His assualt on Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 2 was one of the greatest IPL knocks of all time.

That knock also put him within 123 runs of breaking Virat Kohli’s all-time record for scoring the most runs in an IPL season. Will Shubman erase that record?

You cannot rule that out, given the form he’s in.

Dhoni vs Hardik V3.0

It’s the third time MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya are pitting their wits against each other this season. Interestingly, the opening game of the season saw CSK take on GT at this very venue. Hardik won that round.

But at Chepauk, in the Qualifier 1, MS Dhoni spun a web around Titans and Pandya to qualify for the final. Tonight, in their third battle, who will come up trumps?

MSD’s 250th IPL game

What better occasion to play your 250th IPL game than the final? CSK captain MS Dhoni will walk into the history books when he takes the field tonight.

Will he make the grand occasion memorable by leading his side to their fifth IPL title?

What are the weather gods feeling in Ahmedabad?

It is a hot day at Ahmedabad. However, there are chances of rain making an appearance in the evening. If it does, that could delay the start of the match but it’s not expected to truncate or wash the game out.

If the game does get washed out, we do have a reserve day. Find out all about who wins IPL 2023 if rain washes out the game here.

A full house at the Narendra Modi stadium?

The IPL 2023 final will be played in an absolutely fantastic setting. The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad has a capacity of around 110,000 and the Titans and Super Kings will fight it out for the ultimate honour in front of a record crowd in what is a magnificent stadium.
