The Seattle Seahawks got the win, but also saw a couple of key offensive players get dinged up during Sunday’s home win over the Denver Broncos. First, right tackle George Fant left the field in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. Later on running back Ken Walker also left the game after a red-hot third quarter that effectively put the Broncos out of business.
Backup Zach Charbonnet finished the game at running back did well for himself. Still, Walker is reportedly going to be “the guy” for Ryan Grubb’s offense this year, so his status is extremely important for the team this week. Here is the latest update on Walker, plus Fant and a few other players via the team’s first official injury report of Week 2.
Ken Walker status for Week 2
Coming out of today’s practice Ken Walker was listed as one of four non-participants, per Brady Henderson at ESPN. Walker is apparently dealing with an abdominable issue. Head coach Mike Madonald told reporters before practice that Walker is considered “day-to-day.” We’ll continue monitoring his status throughout the week.
Walker had some rough sledding in the first half as Seattle’s offensive line was dominated up front. However, after some halftime adjustments from Grubb the Seahawks came out and pounded the ball in the second half. Walker finished the game with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries (5.2 yards per attempt) plus two catches for six more yards as a receiver.
George Fant injury update
As for Seattle’s temporary starting right tackle, George Fant was also a DNP with a knee injury. Fant was re-signed to the team this offseason after spending a few seasons with the New York Jets and one with the Houston Texans. To fill in for starting right tackle Abe Lucas, who remains on the PUP list as he recovers from offseason knee surgery.
Uchenna Nwosu ruled out vs. Patriots
In related news, before practice Macdonald gave reporters a scoop on outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu. Macdonald says that Nwosu will not be playing in this week’s road game against the New England patriots. Nwosu suffered an MCL sprain in the team’s preseason finale. He was also a DNP.
Seahawks Wed. injury report
As for the rest of the injury report, middle linebacker Tyrel Dodson was the fourth non-participant at today’s practice. Meanwhile, several players were listed as limited, including wide receiver Tyler Lockett, tight ends Noah Fant and Pharaoh Brown, linebacker Jerome Baker, defensive end Dre’Mont Jones, plus cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Tre Brown. Guards Laken Tomlinson and Anthony Bradford were full participants.
