The 2023 Little League World Series comes down to the West Coast kids against the Caribbean crew.

California meets Curacao in the championship games of the Little League World Series today, as the action from Williamsports concludes on Sunday.

The El Segundo Little League from California has been led by the dynamic duo of Louis Lappe and Brody Brooks, and the pair played pivotal roles for the West region team to come out of the U.S. bracket.

Lappe recorded five RBIs and threw 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in California’s 6-1 win against Texas in the United States final on Saturday. Lappe hit his fourth home run of the tournament, while Brooks whacked his third.

On the global side, Helmir Helmijr was dominant for Curacao in the international final, as he helped the team blank Chinese Taipei 2-0. Helmijr gave up just one hit and allowed no runs to help the Pabao Little League team from Willemstad get back to the LLWS championship.

That 2022 Curacao team, which features five kids from this year’s squad, lost to Hawaii in the LLWS final last year.

California has not won the Little League World Series since the squad from Huntington Beach won the title in 2011. Meanwhile, Curacao has not had a Little League champion since 2004.
