More than a dozen LIV Golf players competed at the 2023 Masters, giving the first major of the year a brand new layer of competitiveness and controversy that left stars on both sides feeling like they had something to prove.
Plenty has changed in the year since. At the same time, plenty has stayed the same. The PGA Tour and LIV Golf agreed to a stunning merger in June, seemingly setting up the end of a tense relationship between the two rival leagues, but the deal still hasn’t been finalized and has an uncertain future.
Meanwhile, 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm shook up the golf world by signing a huge deal to join LIV Golf in December. He returns as one of the favorites this year, albeit under different circumstances.
The dynamic between PGA Tour golfers and LIV Golf players continues to be one of the most interesting storylines when they clash at each major, and the Masters will offer 2024’s first glimpse of the situation.

LIV Golf players at the Masters live scores
Thirteen LIV Golf players qualified for the 2024 Masters, down from 18 in 2023. Still, it’s a high-profile group that includes six former Masters champions in addition to stars such as Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.
Joining this year’s group of LIV Golfers at the Masters is Rahm, who controversially made the move to LIV Golf in December by signing a massive contract. Rahm is attempting to become the first back-to-back Masters winner since Tiger Woods won in 2001 and ’02.
