Baseball fans are one step closer to learning who will be representing the two leagues in the Midsummer Classic.
The first phase of All-Star voting wrapped up on Thursday, with the finalists in each league at each position announced. Two players posted automatic entries to Seattle for the All-Star Game, with Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani running away with the vote in the AL and Braves dynamic star Ronald Acuna Jr. easily cruising to the automatic bid in the NL.
The Blue Jays, Rangers, Dodgers and Braves are among the teams with the most player representation to appear in the top two in each league.
With the finalists in place, fans will now get to vote for who will start at each position. Voting from the previous round no longer matters.
Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette each held massive first-phase leads over the next closest players in the middle infield. Now, they will have to win the vote again in order to be named starters.
