New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has a lot to prove in 2024, which is evident from where he sits in NFL rankings.

Dealing with neck injuries and a torn ACL that ended his season early in 2023, Jones is already back on the field participating in OTAs.

It will be a long road back for the Giants’ starting quarterback, who again found himself ranked in the bottom tier of signal-callers from Pro Football Focus.

Jones was ranked 29th among NFL quarterbacks at the top of a tier labeled “The Holdovers,” which also included Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, Sam Darnold, J.J. McCarthy, Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix.

Jones was the third-ranked quarterback in PFF grade on his own team last year — behind Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito. Jones played in just six games in 2023 and was basically either elite or one of the worst-graded quarterbacks in a given week, with no in-between.

He is a good athlete whose rushing production and ability to escape the pocket have always been a big part of his game. But in four of his five years with the Giants, he has finished with more turnover-worthy plays than big-time throws. His average depth of target has also been low over the past three seasons.

The Giants are hoping the new addition of Malik Nabers will help bring Jones back to form as he was in 2022—the first year under Brian Daboll.

However, he won’t get much love in the rankings if he starts out the season in a similar light to that of 2023 before he was injured.
