The big piece hardware already has been handed out, as the Stanley Cup belongs to the Golden Knights. However, there are still individual awards to be handed out. 

This week is chock full of events on the NHL calendar, and first up is the 2023 NHL Awards. The finalists have been known for a while now, however, the recipients of the five major awards in the league — the Hart, the Ted Lindsay, the Vezina, the Norris and the Calder — will be revealed tonight in Nashville.

Some of the game’s biggest names have been nominated, including Connor McDavid, Erik Karlsson, David Pastrnak, Cale Makar, Matthew Tkachuk and Adam Fox. But who will be taking home the honors?

The Sporting News is providing the results from the 2023 NHL Awards. 

Who are the finalists for the 2023 NHL Awards?

Here are the finalists for the five major honors that will be handed out at the awards show. 

Hart Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Connor McDavid, F, Oilers
  • David Pastrnak, F, Bruins
  • Matthew Tkachuk, F, Panthers

The finalists for the Hart Trophy were announced on Friday, May 12. The award goes to the player deemed “most valuable” to his team. 

This would be McDavid’s third Hart Trophy if he were to win. Pastrnak and Tkachuk have never earned the honor before. 

Vezina Trophy

Finalists

  • Connor Hellebuyck, Jets
  • Ilya Sorokin, Islanders
  • Linus Ullmark, Bruins

The finalists for the Vezina Trophy were announced on Thursday, May 11. The award goes to the league’s best goaltender of the season. 

Out of the three, Hellebuyck is the only previous winner, earning the award in 2020. Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin won the Vezina in 2022. 

Ted Lindsay Award

Finalists

  • Erik Karlsson, D, Sharks
  • Connor McDavid, F, Oilers
  • David Pastrnak, F, Bruins

The finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award were announced on Wednesday, May 10. The award, named after Hall of Famer Ted Lindsay (formerly the Lester B. Pearson Award), is given annually to the NHL’s most outstanding player as voted on by his peers.

If McDavid were to win in 2023, it would be his fourth Ted Lindsay. He previously won the honor in 2017, 2018 and 2022. Karlsson and Pastrnak would be first-time winners. 

James Norris Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Adam Fox, D, Rangers
  • Erik Karlsson, D, Sharks
  • Cale Makar, D, Avalanche

The finalists for the Norris Trophy were announced on Thursday, May 4. The award goes to the league’s best defenseman of the season. 

All three have previously won the Norris. Cale Makar won it in 2022, Adam Fox earned the honor in 2021 and Erik Karlsson won in 2012 and 2015. 

Calder Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Matty Beniers, F, Kraken
  • Owen Power, D, Sabres
  • Stuart Skinner, G, Oilers

The finalists for the Calder Trophy were announced on Wednesday, May 3. The award goes to the league’s best rookie of the season. 

Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider won the Calder in 2022.

When are the 2023 NHL Awards?

  • Date: Monday, June 26
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. CT

The 2023 NHL Awards show is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 26 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. 

The festivities start at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. local time in Nashville. It is expected to run for two hours.

The 2023 NHL Awards show will be broadcast on TNT in the United States, and Sportsnet in Canada. The French-speaking audience will be able to watch TVA Sports in Canada.
