Normally our monthly reviews cover a good mixture of symphonic, chamber, vocal, and other music. This past month, however, there seems to be a lot of keyboard music, ranging from Christophe Rousset’s reading of Bach’s Die Kunst der Fuge to Inon Barnatan’s virtuosic transcription for solo piano of Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances. One of the notable albums is the music of Gershwin and Rachmaninov as interpreted by Earl Wilde recorded by American pianist John Wilson (pictured). Other keyboard releases cover music by Nikolai Medtner, Isaac Albéniz, and Enrique Granados; a wide range from which to choose.
