On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles met on Sunday afternoon for the fourth and final game of the series, and Alex Cora’s team was handed a 4-2 loss.
Boston’s offense did their job getting on base, but they were unable to drive home runs. The team recorded 11 hits, but they left 11 on base and went just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Ceddanne Rafaela (2-for-4) drove in one on a single in the eighth and Rob Refsnyder (1-for-2) hit a solo home run in the ninth, but that was all they could muster.
The pitchers were all right, as Kutter Crawford got the start and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing just three runs on two hits and a walk while striking out four. Bailey Horn followed with 1 2/3 innings where he allowed one earned run, and Brennan Bernardino pitched a scoreless, hitless eighth inning.
This loss dropped the Red Sox to 65-58 and 36-26 on the road, as they split this series. Boston will begin a three-game series with the Houston Astros starting on Monday.
