Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story is set to make his MLB return tomorrow against the Chicago White Sox, per Alex Speier. Ceddanne Rafaela will move to second base and split time with Emmanuel Valdez.
In his career with Boston, Story has a .227 batting average with 19 homers, and 34 doubles. In three years with the Sox, Story has only played 145 games due to various injuries. While his offensive stats don’t show it, he brings a lot to the table.
Story is an elite defender, something the Sox are in desperate need of since the team is the league leader in errors per game. He also brings veteran leadership, as he has been one of the team’s leaders since he got there, along with Rafael Devers who is the longest tenured Red Sox player.
Hopefully, Story’s return will ignite the spark needed to get the Sox back on track towards a late-season playoff push.
The Sox will play the first game of the series against the White Sox at 7:10pm EST.
