Tyreek Hill found himself in hot water briefly, but an investigation into an off-the-field incident involving the Dolphins receiver has provided a clearer picture as to how much trouble he may be in.
On June 20, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced that the Dolphins wide receiver was under investigation for assault and battery at a Miami Beach marina stemming from an incident that occurred over Father’s Day weekend. Just a day later, it was reported that the police investigation of the matter was over and that the department would not be filing charges against Hill.
Though charges were not filed against Hill, it’s not the first time that he has had a run in with law enforcement. While attending Oklahoma State, he was convicted of domestic assault, which ultimately forced him to transfer away from the program to Division II West Alabama.

Wednesday, June 21
Police reportedly reviewed video of the alleged battery as a part of the investigation process. Police later decided that there would be no charges filed by their department,
As such, the victim would have to go to the state attorney’s office should he want to pursue criminal charges, per Fox Sports 640’s Andy Slater.

The Dolphins had released a statement on Hill Tuesday night, while the NFL has yet to comment on the investigation.
“We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Tyreek, his representatives and the NFL. We will reserve further comment at this time,” the statement reads.
It’s unclear if the league has started its own investigation into the incident and whether they will with the Miami-Dade Police Department’s review of the case coming to a close.

The Miami-Dade Police Department release a statement confirming that Hill was involved in an altercation at Haulover Marina (Miami Beach, Fla.) on Sunday, June 18. Hill posted a video of himself and his agent Drew Rosenhaus fishing, but has not commented about the investigation.

What did Tyreek Hill do?
Hill is accused of striking a Miami Beach marina employee in the back of the head around 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 18 while at a Father’s Day event, according to police. WPLG-TV in Miami reported that Hill struck the employee following a “disagreement.” WPLG reports that it is unclear if the main was injured.
Fox Sports 640’s Andy Slater said the incident occurred when Hill’s group tried boarding a boat without permission, leading to an altercation.

The employee declined to press charges at the time of the incident, but the police investigation remains open and ongoing.
Tyreek Hill arrest history
In 2014, Hill was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation. Crystal Espinal, Hill’s then-girlfriend and later ex-fiancee, told police that Hill struck her in the face and stomach while he also choked her. Espinal was eight weeks pregnant with Hill’s child.
Originally, Hill plead not guilty, but failed to meet “monetary obligations” with his first attorney. He was later assigned a new attorney and would plead not guilty to the charges. The case ended in a plea deal, with Hill sentenced to three years probation, fines and was required to take an anger management class.
Hill would transfer to West Alabama and would be drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Chiefs.
Prior to the 2019 NFL season, Hill again found himself under investigation, this time for an alleged domestic battery incident involving he and Espinal’s 3-year-old son, which resulted in a broken arm. While Hill and Espinal would temporarily lose custody of their child, no criminal charges were filed, and Hill wasn’t arrested.
After a lengthy investigation, the NFL opted not to suspend Hill.
