The Blue Jays continue their AL East homestand against the Baltimore Orioles after hosting the Yankees earlier this week.

The AL East has proven to be an utterly loaded division so far this year, with the Orioles and Blue Jays trying to gain ground on the Rays. Baltimore is enjoying a continuation of last year’s coming out party, while the Blue Jays are trying to find the consistency that has eluded them for the past few seasons.

Ryan Mountcastle leads the Orioles with eight homers on the year, but while Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson are the up-and-comers to watch, it’s Baltimore’s bullpen that has helped the Orioles vault the Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Yankees in the standings. It has an ERA of 3.00 as a unit, good for second in MLB behind the Mariners.

For the Blue Jays, meanwhile, it’s been about the offense. They’re 11th in MLB in runs per game with three eligible hitters hitting over .300 on the year. Matt Chapman, Bo Bichette, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have been amongst the top three-headed monsters in baseball, while offseason trade acquisition Daulton Varsho has been a boon in the lineup. Toronto is looking to go on a run, as it has seen several solid stretches stall early in the year. The Orioles will provide a good test to do so.

The Orioles will have Kyle Gibson on the mound, as he looks to shake off a few spotty starts to begin this year. For the Blue Jays, Yusei Kikuchi will be on the rubber, looking to improve upon his 5-0 start to the year.
