The Las Vegas Raiders have an intriguing mixture of young and veteran talent on their roster as the team is looking to build off a 3-1 end to the 2023 campaign. The Silver and Black open the 2024 season on Sunday, September 8th, against the new-look Los Angeles Chargers led by head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The Raiders’ roster has experienced veterans and young talent with potential, but how old is the team compared to the rest of the league? According to Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice, the Raiders boasted the 12th-youngest initial 53-man roster in the NFL, with an average player age of 25.92.
That’s a significant jump up from last year, when the Raiders had an average age of 26.6 on their initial 53-man roster, which was the fourth-oldest in the league.
Head coach Antonio Pierce’s squad holds just six players over the age of 30, with defensive tackle John Jenkins being the oldest player at 35.
The youngest player on the roster is 21-year-old rookie offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson, who is expected to start at left guard for Las Vegas this season and establish himself as a building block on James Cregg’s unit.
Though the Raiders are one of the 15 youngest teams in the league and have one of the youngest head coaches, the team has the right amount of veteran experience and youthful talent to compete for a playoff spot in 2024.
