Deion Sanders’ isn’t one to mince words.
The Colorado head coach has long existed as a fresh of breath air in the mire of college football, willing to say and do what other tacticians would only dream of. It’s a laudable trait, especially when compared to the steady streams of fibs that can often spill out of skipper’s mouths at the first sign of unrest.
Sanders is a maverick. And so too is his crew. From son Shedeur and “honorary” son Travis Hunter right on down to his security detail.
Sanders’ bodyguard captured social media’s attention when he popped up on Fox’s broadcast of the Buffaloes’ clash with Nebraska rocking a black tee. The words etched on the shirt’s surface made all the difference then: “F Around and Find Out.”

But just who is this towering figure? And how did he come to flank Sanders in college football’s biggest stage? The Sporting News details the rise of Sanders’ hulking security guard.
Who is Deion Sanders’ bodyguard?
Sanders’ bodyguard is a former police officer by the name of Officer Rose. He’s a longtime associate of Sanders, having accompanied the Pro Football Hall of Famer in his Jackson State days. Rose was a regular part of JSU’s game day, lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce if anyone got overzealous with Sanders. When Sanders got into his spat with Alabama State’s Eddie Robinson Jr., there Rose was, weaving through the mire to defend the then-Tigers coach if things were to get unchy.
Sanders’ pilgrimmage to Boulder brought with it a whole lot of change. But one thing remained the same; his commitment to his bodyguards. Sanders brought Rose and fellow bodyguard Lt. McGee to the Buffaloes’ campus, showing loyalty to the blockers who helped maintain order around the media chaos that surrounded Sanders during his tenure in Jackson.
Sanders’ security crew has repaid that loyalty in spades. They’ve offered support throughout his recovery from his leg ailment, even helping the coach around his house after he had two toes amputated during the offseason.

Now, he’s in the spotlight. Rose featured on Fox’s broadcast of Colorado’s season-opener with then-No. 17 TCU. You probably didn’t recognize him, though; the titan of a man stood behind Sanders and Fox sideline reporter Jenny Taft during halftime, camouflaged by an olive-green bucket hat.
He was far more prevalent in Week 2, sporting that iconic black tee to let folks know that he meant business. Suffice to say, I don’t think anyone will attempt to step to him or Sanders anytime soon.
